A Woo Woo Gone

Father's Day fun
Hello again, it has been a while!  It is amazing how tough it is to keep up with a toddler running around, let alone two (we will get to that in a minute)

Things are great, Cade is going to be 18 months old in a week.  That is crazy!  Lot's of firsts for Cade since last time.  The Zoo, the aquarium, Elmo show, it has been a whirlwind.

Cade loved the zoo.  He likes the elephants best, but loved all of it.  He would just stand there and stare at the animals, then clap like crazy.

Sitting on a dino egg
The aquarium was great too, we went one day at the beach to get a break from the sun.  He would chase the fish around through the glass walls, and he loved the giant shark mascot.  Speaking of the beach, it was a little hit and miss :)  He liked it, but was a little scared too.  He may be more of a pool man!  He still had his moments though, splashing in the waves if you were right with him.  The funniest thing about it were the dogs.  The Woo Woo as Cade calls them.  He would chase them around the beach, petting them, kissing them, loving it.  And of course the dogs loved the attention too.  So when we left he kept asking for the Woo Woo, and we told him they had to go bye bye.  This morning still, he looks up and says "woo woo gone"  in a sad and determined voice.  Most of you know I am not a big animal guy, but dang if I might have to get a dog now.
Super Star!

Mo! (otherwise known as Elmo) was a hit.  We were not sure what to think when we decided to go, but he sat in Jess's lap mesmerized for 45 minutes at the show.  Money well spent for sure.

Come here fish!
So about that 2nd toddler...not a hock to most, but some of you don't know.  Jess is pregnant with "deuce" as I call her, or Ki Ki as Cade calls her.  Kennedy Elisabeth will be joining us and completing our family on August 30th.

We are super excited, maybe a little nervous too :)  Cade is hilarious with it, you ask him what his sister's name is, and he makes this cry face and whimpers.  He thinks all babies just cry!  But you ask him to say Kennedy and he says Ki Ki and pats his mommas belly and gives it a kiss.  It is really sweet.  Some times though, when you ask him where the baby is, he lifts his shirt and points to his belly.

Cade is also talking more and more, and trying to help us do things.  I think we can use that to our advantage with deuce!  He likes to put his diaper in the diaper genie upstairs, then wash his hands.  He loves to help sweep/vacuum and wants me to carry him the whole time I cut the grass.  That one is a bit tougher, but I do it none the less.  He is also a superstar at cornhole...granted he just walks right up and throws it in but who is going to tell him he can't?  He is a ringer!

His favorite color is GEEN!  He knows what green is, but if he is worked up, everything is green.  SO we just have to only ask when something really is, so he gets it right :)  He actually is pretty good with Blue too, but geen wins the day no doubt.  I think his favorite person outside of Ga Ga and Ga, is Aunt "Ayi".  That boy loves some Ali!

He and his buddy Carson are getting to the age where they actually play together more, that is awesome.  Brent and Kendra come over and we hang out while the kids play basketball, ride the tractor or John Deere, whatever.  Since they both LOVE the Neverland Pirate Band, we decided they will be Sharky and Bones for Halloween, that is going to be hilarious.

Well folks, time to go play with the buddy, and get ready to avoid the 108 degree heat while still keeping Cade entertained!  Talk with you again soon.

Love,

Tim, Jess, Cade and soon to be Kennedy

Been a while...

Wow, it has been a while since the last update.  Cade has changed a ton in 3 and a half months...

Things are going great, Cade is growing and getting more and more personality all the time.  He had his 1st birthday party, it was a blast.  A bit overwhelming for him, but he got great gifts from great friends and family.

Cade loves the playground too, swings, the bridge, eating the wood chips on the ground; you name it, he loves it.  We have also graduated to all real food, which is great.  Fries, nuggets, pancakes, waffles, bananas, grapes, cheese bread, and more.  It is nice to be able to go out and get him something off the menu, not worry about bottles.

He graduated from walking to now trying to run, and dancing.  He gets his ability to dance from me clearly :)

Although he now needs another, he got his first haircut a few months ago.  Thanks Amy!  He was a bit unsure, but he did just fine and looked suave.

He helped the Pack with a nice run in the NCAA tourney with his lucky outfit, but got it soaking wet the day of the sweet 16 game so couldn't keep it on and they lost.  He looks read to step in and play in 18 years though...although, he will be at Ole Miss playing instead!

We love the playground at Chik-fil-a, nothing better than a pack of nuggets, fruit, juice, and then playing on the slide.  Throw in a trip to Marbles Kids Museum and life is good in his mind.

I think the thing that has changed the most is the amount of words he says now.  Ma Ma, Da Da, ball, all the usuals were all there were for a bit.  Now, we have juice, moon, go, ga-ga, cheese, big boy, squeeze...all in his own version of course.  Still, you know the difference and he knows what he is saying.

A funny story of how much he actually understands: Jess, Cade, and I were sitting in the living room playing.  We wanted to go outside for a walk (he LOVES the school buses, waves to all the kids) so we told Cade, "Go in the playroom and get your shoes so we can go outside."  I of course think there is no chance he knows what we said, and certainly won't do it.  Lo and behold, he walks out, through the baby gate (unlocked) finds his crocs, and brings them right up to me and holds them out.

We had a great visit from Jake, Tiff, and Aubrey in March.  Cade and Aubrey had a blast, it was funny watching her push him around a little.

Now we are coming up on Easter, it is crazy to look at his pictures last year and see him now.  He was a butterball last year, now we will have to chase him around the church.  Did I mention he is all boy and is no fan of sitting still?

Well folks, that is about it.  I will do better about keeping up from now on!

Love,

Tim, Jess, and Cade

Thanksgiving

Before I start the normal blog, I want to just say thank you.  I am so unbelievably blessed.  I have an amazing life in every facet, and I deserve none of it.  My family, my friends, my job, everything is so great and I am so lucky and undeserving of it all.  So thank you, Lord, for all you have given me.

On to the blog...

Today was Cade's first Thanksgiving!  I am stunned that in less than 2 months he will be a year old.  He gets more and more like a little boy and less and less like a baby every day.  I have loved spending time with him the past week or so, I had a tough run of about 7 weeks in a row gone traveling for work so it is great to just be home with my family.  We fried a turkey, and had tons of good food.  Cade was a mess with sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes.  But what took the cake was whipped cream.  He would have sucked down and entire can if we let him.

Someone call Nelly, because Cade has a grille...sadly only some of you will get the reference.  Cade has 4 top and 3 bottom teeth now, with the 4th working it's way in fast.  I also think the 1 year molars are showing up a month early.  Brushing his teeth has now become an OSHA issue.

My little buddy is getting more and more brave with his walking too.  He used to "scoot" around the couch and what not; now he will let go, turn around and take 4-5 steps on his own towards you...or towards anything he deems worthy of his attention.  And let me tell you, if he deems it worthy, you are best suited to move and let him have it, lest you get reprimanded by him.  It is so neat to see him taking steps...I remember holding him as a little 9 pound peanut, now he is laughing and jabbering, and walking around.

Basketball started for Jess, I have been "removed" from the bench...Unreal, it is due to jealousy over my utter genius basketball knowledge...and someone needs to give Grandma and Grandpa a break from watching Cade too I guess.

In all seriousness, the team started off 1-0, beating a heavily favored Panther Creek team.  Jess and Ali do a great job, I assure you I am not missed :)  Speaking of basketball, when Cade sees it on TV or live he says "ba-bol"!  He loves it already.  And, just so you all are aware, he has already had his first dunk.

Now, I was in 8th grade before I could dunk a ball, but Cade did it last night in the tub.  Granted, it was a fish shaped ball, and the hoop was suctioned to the tub about 20 inches high, but that is irrelevant.  What is important is that he picked up the "ball" and jammed it through the hoop.  Like father like son.

We are so excited for Christmas, Cade will love the boxes, paper, empty cups, paper towels...and he may even play with something we buy him.  We will take him to see Santa Clause soon too, 10-1 he yanks that man's beard right off his face.  Oh well, job hazard I suppose.

Well, that is it for now, we are doing great and enjoying every day.  Hope to see you all soon.

Love,

Tim, Jess, and Cade

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the Lowe's! It is a cold and rainy Halloween here in Raleigh, but it didn't stop Cade from having a great time.  He visited the pumpkin pathc, picked out a pumpkin (sort of) and got his costume.

Lots has changed since the last post, and lots hasn't. Ole Miss is still awful, that hasn't changed. But Cade, he is like a different kid. More teeth, crawling, trying so very hard to walk, all kinds of new fun things.

Since our Oxford trip, I have had to travel a ton. I hate being gone from my buddy and Jess. He changes so much so quickly that I feel like I am getting robbed of certain things. But I try to spend all my time home with him to make up for it. Jess does an amazing job with him while I am gone though and has great friends and family to hang out with to help. And we absolutely can not say enough how much we appreciate Grandma and Grandpa

watching Cade each day. It is unfathomable what we would do without them. Plus, Cade LOVES hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa.

Cade is now babbling up a storm, even more so than before. Ba-Ba and A-Ba-Wa are two favorites. We sit there sometimes thinking, "What is he trying to say?" He is so adamant in it, I know he is trying to communicate something. It is really fun to watch.

Cade loves to swing. We go down to the swings in the neighborhood and he hangs on for dear life and laughs his little self to death. It is a great way to get out of the house, we will really miss it this winter when it is too cold. But, he loves to play in his walker even more. He is a speed demon in that thing, going all over the place. One great thing is to take him to the gym at Cardinal Gibbons on a Saturday and let him tool around the gym floor. He will do it for an hour, and get worn out in the process :) We actually bought one because of how he love it in Target!

Teeth. Are these things never ending? I think he has been teething for months now. He now has a full grill up top and 3 on bottom. He puts them to good use though, loves to chomp on stuff. And loves big people food. Biscuits, jelly, butter beans, bananas, pancakes, oranges, yogurt, these are all favorites. Not to mention the Gerber puffs, he will hammer those things left and right.

Three words you never want to hear? Double Ear Infection. I think I need not say more. Oh yeah, except that that was the same time 3 teeth were all coming in. Solid.

We got a cage for the living room. Yep, I cage my child in the center of the floor. Don't look so surprised, it is actually a brilliant idea. I can't take credit for it though, we got it from Chad and Bonnie, but it is great. Throw the toys in there, something for him to pull himself up on, and you are golden. You have to keep a clear path to walk around his table though, heaven forbid his path is blocked, you will hear about it.

Cade was not pleased that the Rangers lost the World Series either...again.

Birds, planes, trees - all more favorites to watch and play with. Go outside and he hears the birds or a plane and looks right up in the sky. And taking a walk, he loves to play with the leaves on the trees...he will be very disappointed when winter finally claims it's last leaf! It is a good thing he loves books. Especially the pop up books, he will want you to read them over and over again. He just smiles and laughs, even if he knows what is going to pop up.

There is so much more, I could write about Cade forever, but that is all the time I have for now. We hope everyone had a great Halloween!

Love,

Tim, Jess, and Cade
